A popular locale has been dubbed one of the state’s best-reviewed and most expensive, according to a report released by NewYorkUpstate.com.
Citing data from Yelp, NewYorkUpstate has released its report of the municipalities that feature the top businesses in categories ranging from best pizzeria to specialty stops such as vegetarian restaurants and sushi bars. Factors that determine ranking include the number of reviews, star ranking and number of negative reviews.”
The report only includes restaurants from upstate - which is considered north of Westchester and Rockland counties - in the rankings.
"Best" has been measured using an algorithm that looks at the number of reviews and star rating for a business, as well as other factors like the number of negative reviews and recency of reviews.
During their research, a Hudson Valley eatery was named “the most expensive restaurant in upstate New York.”
The Tasting Room at Gendron Catering on Route 9G in Rhinebeck landed at the top spot on the list. The report cited 66 universally positive reviews, which earned the restaurant a five-star rating on Yelp, despite its distinction as “the most expensive restaurant in upstate New York.”
According to the Tasting Room’s website, “whether it’s a formal sit down dinner for an extravagant gala or an elegant wedding with buffet or station setups, all food must complement each other within the selected menu.
The best menus are always created in collaboration with our clients and we are genuinely interested in your ideas. Chef Daniel (Gendron) will personally meet with you and provide a tasting showcasing seasonal and fresh menu options for your event.
“Our sample menus are meant to serve as examples of what can be done, a way of inspiring your own thoughts on the types of foods you would like us to prepare for you. We strongly support local farms and their methods of producing sustainable foods.”
On Yelp, one user gushed, “this is the best-kept secret in Rhinebeck, however judging by the reviews not so much a secret anymore."
